About Clare…

Clare Elsom is an award-winning children's illustrator and author.

She is the creator of young fiction series Horace & Harriet, and has illustrated dozens of other children’s books, including the popular Flying Fergus series written by Olympic champion Sir Chris Hoy and Joanna Nadin, Furry Friends by Holly Webb and Superheroes Don’t Get Scared by Kate Thompson. Clare is now working on a much anticipated new authored/illustrated series which will be published in 2027.

Clare studied illustration at Falmouth University (lots of drawing) and has an MA in Children's Literature from Roehampton University (lots of writing).

Clare regularly visits schools, appears at literary festivals and has been a guest on popular UK TV shows CBBC Book Club and Blue Peter. She was a World Book Day competition judge in 2018 and won a Lollies Award for her illustrations in 2024.

After living in London for several years she ran away to beautiful Devon with her family, and in her spare time likes paddle boarding, tap dancing and reading about dinosaurs. She also runs the popular Exeter Life Drawing classes.
